COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Medicaid has selected Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield as one of four managed care organizations (MCOs) to provide services under its new Next Generation MyCare Ohio program. This expanded program will serve Ohioans eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare, building on the foundation of the current MyCare Ohio initiative.

The Next Generation MyCare Ohio program is a single, cohesive a Managed Long-Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) program with a Fully Integrated Dual Eligible (FIDE) component that simplifies care coordination for individuals navigating both Medicaid and Medicare. The program streamlines access, improves health outcomes, and reduces barriers for some of Ohio’s most vulnerable residents.

“Our focus and outcomes in putting our members at the center of everything we do, coupled with our shared vision for the MyCare program allowed us to propose innovations to improve the health of some of the most vulnerable Ohioans.” said Greg LaManna, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Ohio Medicaid division. “We look forward to partnering with ODM, our community and provider organizations to simplify the healthcare journey for our members. Together we’re breaking down barriers to essential care and building a system that truly supports every aspect of Ohioans’ health and well-being in meaningful, lasting ways.”

Through this new program, Anthem will focus on:

- Personalized, member-centered care

- Enhanced wellness and health outcomes for individuals and populations.

- Support for continuous improvement among providers

- Care solutions that promote independence for those with complex needs

- Greater transparency and accountability.

MyCare Ohio members will not have any change at this time. Current MyCare Ohio providers will continue to serve MyCare Ohio members as they do today until the transition to the Next Generation MyCare plans in January 2026. At that time, the selected plans will be responsible for supporting Ohioans who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid healthcare coverage in the 29 counties where MyCare Ohio is currently available. Statewide expansion of the program will follow as quickly as possible.
