MANCHESTER, N.H. — As part of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire’s ongoing efforts to improve access to behavioral healthcare, Anthem announced it is reducing member copays for in-person and virtual behavioral healthcare visits to be the same as or lower than primary care visit copays, effective January 1, 2024.

In addition to lowering copays for New Hampshire members, Anthem has been focused on increasing access to behavioral health support and has added new behavioral health providers to its network that have agreed to bundle services into a single monthly copay for the member instead of billing services separately. Bundling into one monthly copay allows more services to be wrapped around members who require multiple or concurrent treatments without the burden of additional costs.

“Increasing access to behavioral healthcare and reducing barriers to that access is a central focus of ours,” said Maria Proulx, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire. “We want our members to be able to get timely access to the mental healthcare they need. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health and high cost shares should not be a barrier to getting on the path to recovery and good health.”

The lower copays vary by plan and apply to all health plans offered by Anthem in New Hampshire in the fully insured large group, small group, and individual markets, and are offered to self-funded plans in New Hampshire as well.
