Sauk Prairie Healthcare and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Contract Update

April 01, 2024

As of April 1, 2024, Sauk Prairie Healthcare (Sauk Prairie) facilities and physicians are out-of-network for Anthem members. While we have been negotiating in good faith with Sauk Prairie leadership for several months, we were unable to come to agreement on a new contract.

What does this mean for Anthem members?
As of April 1, 2024, Sauk Prairie facilities and physicians are no longer part of Anthem’s care provider network, meaning they are now out-of-network for Anthem members covered by employer-sponsored, individual, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid health plans.

Using hospitals, facilities and physicians that are out-of-network could result in higher costs, which is why we always encourage members to seek care from providers that are in our care provider network.

It is important to note that emergency services are not impacted, and Anthem members should always call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room in a life-threatening situation.

Anthem members continue to enjoy in-network care at the many other local care facilities in the area. We encourage our members to consider scheduling non-emergency, elective care with alternative care providers. Anthem members can use the Find Care tool at anthem.com to search for local doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals that accept their health plan.

Anthem service center representatives stand ready to assist members with their health care needs and to identify alternative in-network providers. Anthem members who have questions can call the toll-free member services number listed on their Anthem member ID card.
