Anthem’s contract with Aspirus Health is scheduled to end on December 31, 2025. This contract sets the prices Aspirus Health charges to its patients covered by Anthem employer-based, individual, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage health plans. Our goal is to maintain and improve healthcare affordability for the patients, employers, and taxpayers that pay for healthcare.
Our Commitment to Affordability
Anthem is dedicated to improving access to high-quality, affordable healthcare for all Wisconsinites. Here’s why:
- Wisconsin’s healthcare costs are the most expensive in the Midwest and 5th highest in the country (RAND)
- Half of U.S. adults say it’s difficult to afford healthcare costs and, alarmingly, one in four adults delayed needed care because of high costs (KFF). When hospitals raise prices, patients pay more—through higher copayments, deductibles, and insurance premiums.
- Our high healthcare costs are harming Wisconsin’s economy (WMC Foundation).
That’s why we negotiate on behalf of our members and Wisconsin employers to secure affordable care at Aspirus Health and all our provider partners.
Commitment to Keeping Aspirus Health in Our Network
Anthem is working closely with Aspirus Health to reach a long-term agreement. We’re committed to keeping Aspirus Health in our network and are optimistic about reaching a new agreement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do now?
Continue seeking care at Aspirus Health as you have in the past. You can continue seeing your Aspirus Health doctors through at least December 31, 2025, and we’re optimistic we will reach a new agreement before that date.
Please continue to check this website for updates. We will provide more information as negotiations continue.
Will an agreement be reached to keep Aspirus Health in Anthem’s network?
We’re optimistic that it will, and that’s what we’re working toward. We want to keep Aspirus Health in our network because we know our members receiving care there depend on their doctors and hospitals. However, it’s important that we work with Aspirus Health to keep care affordable for their patients covered by Anthem.
What are my options if Aspirus Health leaves Anthem’s network?
In the event Aspirus Health chooses to leave our network, members have access to a broad network of high-quality Wisconsin care providers, including Marshfield Clinic Health System, which are in-network for most health plans.
Care provider networks vary by plan. We always recommend you log in to anthem.com or the Sydney Health app to find in-network care providers near you. You may also contact our Member Service Center at the number on your Anthem ID card for assistance.
What if Aspirus Health leaves Anthem’s network and I’m being treated there for a serious condition?
We know this is especially concerning for our members currently receiving care at Aspirus Health for a serious medical condition. That’s why we’re taking steps to help in the event Aspirus Health leaves our network. We are reaching out directly to members in treatment for serious and complex conditions to assist with care options, including continuing care with their current Aspirus Health provider for a limited time.
If you are receiving treatment for a serious or complex condition that will continue past December 31, 2025, please contact our Member Service Center at the number on your Anthem ID card. You may be able to continue your care at Aspirus Health for a limited time after that date if you are receiving certain types of care.
