Meet John and see how he saved on many of his health care services

John is an active 35-year old who lives in Manchester. He was feeling more tired than normal lately. And he also ran into a bit of bad luck on the slopes. The following is John’s story of how he used Site of Service to save money on his care:

Lab work

To find out why John’s been so tired, his primary doctor wanted him to have his blood drawn. So John went to an independent lab listed on anthem.com and paid nothing! That means no deductible or coinsurance. Things are looking up for John already.

X-ray

John got the good news that his blood work showed nothing serious. He was probably just tired from the long hours he’d been working. So John breathed a sigh of relief and went on his much-needed ski vacation. Uh oh! On his last ski run, he took a nasty tumble and injured his knee. His doctor recommended an X-ray. Because he remembered to find an independent radiology provider on anthem.com, his copay wasn’t more than $150. That’s far less than if he went to a hospital. Smart move, John!

MRI

The X-ray didn’t show anything but, unfortunately, John was still feeling a lot of pain in his knee. So his doctor ordered an MRI to get a closer look. The MRI showed a cartilage tear. Because John went on anthem.com and found an independent advanced diagnostic imaging provider, he only paid a $250 copay and saved big.

Outpatient surgery

John’s doctor recommended arthroscopic knee surgery to fix the tear. So he headed over to one of New Hampshire’s ambulatory surgery centers listed on anthem.com. His plan’s copay was only $250. That’s it!

Physical therapy

After the surgery, John’s doctor ordered physical therapy. Once again, John went on anthem.com and found an independent physical therapist. All he had to pay for each visit was a low copay – the same amount as an office visit.
